How does SEO work?
SEO is all about helping search engines offer the most valuable and relevant content to the user.
When a user enters a specific search term into Google, it displays and ranks what it considers the most relevant and high-value web pages related to that search term.
For example, let’s imagine you were in the hunt for ‘inflatable flamingos’. Google would then scour its index of the world’s web pages and deliver you what it thinks is the closest match to your search query.
What we do is optimise the signals that Google users to calculate your web page’s value and relevance to the search query.
If you’d like to find out more, take a look at our helpful SEO checklist for small businesses.
When will we see ROI on organic SEO?
Your ROI is very much dependent on your starting point and what your objectives are.
There’s rarely a quick fix that magically gets you to the top of search engine pages. However, with a bespoke SEO strategy in place, we will get you optimised and ranking.
Noticeable gains in rankings typically take 3 to 6 months, with a return on investment taking 12 months.
That’s not to say your ROI is solely measured by your position on Google. Increased website traffic, enhanced conversion rates, more engaging content and better user experience will make up part of what you receive from us.
Why does SEO need to be ongoing?
To make sure Google is always providing the best user experience it regularly updates the way it calculates search intent and the relevance and value of your web pages.
This, when added to the SEO activities of your competitors, creates an ever-changing environment that you need to optimise for.
To use an analogy, SEO is much like learning a musical instrument. As a musician, you are forever working on your craft, trying to become the best player or composer that you can be.
Your website needs to be treated in the same way. Keeping it up to date, looking its best and educating your customers as much as possible should be central themes to your SEO and digital marketing activities.
This is why SEO should be an integral ongoing part of your marketing strategy.
My company is a start-up. Do I need SEO?
Absolutely. If you’re a start-up, it is unlikely that you’re sitting on top of Google for the most searched-for terms in your industry.
And, without a presence on these search result pages, establishing brand awareness and growing your business will be difficult.
SEO can be expensive, but we have SME-sized services to help you grow your online presence. Find out more about SEO services for small businesses.
How can we track SEO?
Tracking SEO is vital for success. In order to do this, we use a number of industry tools that allow us to monitor your keyword performance, analyze your website links and check for any technical issues.
PPC (Pay-Per-Click) Advertising
Discover how our PPC advertising campaigns drive high-intent traffic and measurable results without wasting your budget.
What is PPC?
PPC stands for Pay-Per-Click and covers all digital advertising where — you guessed it – you pay every time someone clicks on your ad.
Under the umbrella of PPC, you have a variety of advertising options. These include:
- Paid Search – this includes the paid-for page listings you see on search engine result pages like Google and Bing
- Display Network Advertising – this type uses both graphics or video with or without supporting text and is shown on search engines and third-party sites
- Paid Social – adverts in text, graphic and video form shown across social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and more
What do PPC services include?
Our PPC services include account set-up, campaign creation, content creation, management, optimisation and reporting across all of the platforms you wish to advertise on.
What’s the difference between SEO and PPC?
To the untrained eye, SEO and PPC can seem the doppelgangers of the digital marketing world.
Although the results may sometimes appear the same – as with the organic and paid-for listings on Google – the expertise, methodology and techniques used make SEO and PPC very distinct disciplines.
SEO is all about optimising web pages to rank as organic listings on search engine results pages.
These organic listings take up to ten listings on these pages – the majority of the listings on a page. They are not paid for and are positioned based on the search engine’s perceived value and relevance of the page.
PPC, on the other hand, takes on many forms. They can disguise themselves as organic listings – albeit with the telltale label of ‘Ad’ just above them. Or they can be graphic or video-based adverts seen on search engines, social media platforms and third-party sites.
What is Remarketing?
Remarketing is a type of advertising where you target users who have previously interacted with your business online.
This allows you to profile and target these users with content relevant to their needs.
For example, if you were an online travel agent, you may retarget users with content relevant to the holiday destinations they showed interest in.
What are shopping ads?
Google Shopping Ads sit at the top of Google’s search engine results page and consist of an image and heading that show and describe a product related to the user’s search query.
These ads are displayed as a carousel and are placed alongside other Shopping Ads competing for the same search phrase.
This ad type is only available to e-commerce sites that are advertising physical products.
How much does PPC cost?
Your PPC costs depend on the number of platforms you want to advertise on and the number of products or services you’re looking to promote.
Our entry-level PPC costs start at £490 + VAT per month on one of the advertising platforms we offer. This includes Google Ads, Bing Ads, Facebook and Instagram Ads, LinkedIn Ads and more.

Google Analytics 4 (GA4) was officially introduced by Google in October 2020. It represents the next generation of Google Analytics, focusing on event-based tracking and privacy-centric data collection.
How to access GA4?
You can access GA4 through the Google Analytics platform. If you already have a Google Analytics account, you can create a new GA4 property by following these steps:
- Log in to your Google Analytics account.
- Go to the Admin section.
- In the “Property” column, click on “Create Property.”
- Choose “GA4 Setup Assistant” to create a new GA4 property linked to your existing Universal Analytics property, or create a completely new GA4 property.
Why is GA4 important?
GA4 is important because it represents a shift towards more comprehensive and privacy-focused data analytics.
- Event-Based Tracking: Unlike Universal Analytics, GA4 tracks events rather than sessions, providing more granular insights into user behavior.
- Cross-Platform Tracking: GA4 allows for better tracking across web and app environments, offering a more unified view of customer journeys.
- Privacy-Centric: GA4 is designed with privacy in mind, better aligning with current and upcoming privacy regulations.
- Future-Proof: With the phase-out of Universal Analytics, GA4 is the future of Google Analytics, ensuring you have access to the latest tools and insights.
What does GA4 mean for marketers?
GA4 offers marketers enhanced user insights through event-based tracking and improved cross-platform analysis. It supports a privacy-centric approach, aligning with regulations like GDPR.
GA4’s predictive analytics and machine learning tools help optimise campaigns, while its future-proofing ensures continued relevance as Universal Analytics phases out. Additionally, GA4 provides more flexible and simplified reporting tailored to business needs.
