And as a result, we have another new team member! Oli is a super-experienced SEO and PPCer who brings a high level of expertise to the team.
But what’s he like as a person? Well, let’s get to know him…
What’s your working background, and how did you come to work for Flex Digital?
I have been in digital marketing now for about 10 years. I originally started working in content before taking on other responsibilities across digital marketing, eventually working in PPC, SEO, email marketing, social media, and more.
I’ve worked as an in-house digital marketer, as well as agency-side, working for a number of SMEs.
Life is short, though. And maximising my work hours in the areas I loved the most became more and more important.
I reached out to Flex Digital as they offered more of the work I love in an environment I wanted to work in with people I wanted to work with.
Describe your job to a six-year-old.
I help people have better online experiences by helping them get the answers and content they want.
What are you looking forward to working on the most?
I’m looking forward to working on really open client briefs that give me a lot of flexibility when building their digital strategy.
What tech breakthroughs do you think we’ll be seeing in the next ten years?
Advances in natural language processing and AI makes for a very exciting future.
Google MUM update, for example, helps Google understand more in-depth queries and provide more relevant valuable answers for users.
Ultimately, a greater understanding of human queries and delivery of answers will be really influential in the adoption of AI technology in our day-to-day lives.
What do you like doing outside of work, any unusual hobbies?
I’m not so much of a stay-at-home guy; I love doing things.
At the moment, I’m really into my surfing, but I also love running, boxing, reading, travelling, going to gigs, and anything that gets me out of the house.
Favourite film/TV show/podcast?
I love the movie What We Do in the Shadows. If you’ve never seen it, watch it. It’s really funny!
Do you have any hidden talents, or is there an interesting fact about you?
Sadly, I can’t think of any impressive talents to share. I used to live in China and Brazil, though. I guess that’s kind of interesting?
What book should everyone read?
I regularly reference a book called Utopia for Realists by Rutger Bregman. I always seem to bring it up with people.
At Flex Digital we listen to a lot of music and make far too many playlists. What are your go-to songs and/or artists?
I have a really broad range of likes: old rhythm ‘n’ blues, noughties indie, 90s Britpop. I’m pretty open to most music genres.
